Here are our DIRTY DANCING cupcakes as promised!
These were for a customer who simply requested a batch of gluten-free cupcakes to ENJOY. What a fantastic opportunity for us to indulge in this theme...
We baked vanilla and raspberry cupcakes; ensuring we used gluten-free flour and gluten-free sugarpaste. The buttercream topping was made fresh from a long-established recipe.

Soap Cupcakes!
Well, not REAL Soap... These are Chocolate Chip Coronation Street Cupcakes!
We made these for a regular customer who simply wanted some of our freshly baked cupcakes to "eat and enjoy" - she didn't want a specific design or even a specific flavour! Well, that is more than OK with us!
When a customer gives us 100% artistic license, we get very excited! With William Roache celebrating his 80th birthday along with Coronation Street's 50th Anniversary recently, we thought a celebration was in order. Here is our very own tribute:

Our 5 STAR rating!
At Sugar and Ice of Shaw, we were absolutely thrilled to receive a 5 STAR hygiene rating.
The Environmental Health Officer visited us last month "on spec" whilst we were baking in our kitchen. The gentleman asked us some questions and completed his paperwork. We were delighted when he said that he could not make any improvement suggestions as everything was in order! He did give us some advice regarding a checklist plan which he offered to post out :0) Before he left he told us that we would be awarded the 5 STAR certificate!
A couple of weeks ago, the certificate and window sticker arrived.
It is now proudly on display within our front window :0)

Sport Relief 23rd-25th March 2012
Our son's school (Buckstones County Primary in Shaw) are holding a "Cake Bake-Off" afternoon on Tuesday 20th March.
The school has asked parents to send in home-baked cakes to be sold at a cost of £1 each to parents and grandparents at the school. All monies will be donated to SPORT RELIEF.
Of course, we love charity events! We have already supported St Joseph's School for Macmillan AND donated cupcakes to Dr Kershaw's Hospice.
We thought it would be a good idea to bake some cupcakes and also to make them appeal to everyone, young and old, male and female! They are what we call a "Family Assortment" - these cupcakes really showcase what we can offer. Our favourites are the children's faces! You could order a box of cupcakes from us featuring your entire family!!
How awesome would that be for a special gift?

Our TRIBUTE to an idiot...
Sugar and Ice of Shaw love Karl Pilkington. We love "An Idiot Abroad" so much, that we had to make a batch of cupcakes as a tribute to the man himself.
These cakes weren't for a customer, they were simply baked from a moment of inspiration...
We enjoy making unusual creations, so watch this space!
COMING SOON:
Sex and the City
The Inbetweeners
Only Fools and Horses
Dirty Dancing
The Royle Family
Phantom of the Opera

GaGa...Oooh La La!
As a HUGE Lady Gaga fan, you can imagine what a joy it was to be asked to create 12 cupcakes in the theme of the legend herself :0)
Firstly, we researched her iconic appearances over the last few years. There were so many to choose from and some harder to re-create than others. We wanted to ensure that the finished product was 100% Gaga; so we chose her look from the video "Telephone", the Minnie Mouse inspired creation from "Paparazzi" and finally her famous long blonde hair tied in a bow on the top of her head :0)
The customer had simply requested some "purple" cupcakes and hadn't even chose a flavour - so we opted for our most popular; vanilla and raspberry.
This was the feedback we received last night:
